40 and 41 below show the flowing lava we saw from the helicopter ride.
It was moving very fast; impressive to see liquid rock, though still
pics don't give the full impression. Still, I like these pictures
for the texture and pattern they show. I really like pic 39 as well
which captures some of the amazing colors in the crater (Pu'u o'o vent I
think).
From Kona, we drove north along the eastern shore and took a walk in a
small park to some 700-800 foot waterfalls (pic 44). We had lunch
sitting above the Waipio valley. From 800 feet up, we looked out at
the ocean and saw whales in the water far below.
