The underwater camera was an experiment that clearly needs some practice. (These are the good pics). The entire right half of 47p below is probably a sea turtle. They were hanging out with us only a few feet away, which is rather a shock when you first turn to see one right next to you.
Originally, we were planning on going from the night dive (getting back
from dinner around midnight) to whale watching at 5:30 the next morning. But
my stomach just couldn't handle it. The thought of getting on a boat.....
A day of lieing around and a quick snorkel south of Kona left us feeling
better and the whale watching place was kind enough to accept our postponement
of a day. So Sunday, the day we were leaving to come back on a red-eye,
we got up at 5:00 and drove up the coast to get on Sea Smoke, what was the
fastest sailboat on the water for a long time (sustaining 31 knots for over
an hour) to head out into the ocean. It's kinda like getting back on
the horse after you get thrown. Neither of us felt sick at all (though
apparently a few other people on the boat did.) (Most of the pics are
on the next page)
